Apply: Save the Children Procurement Manager

Save the Children is seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Procurement Manager.

The organisation works to ensure children around the world get health care, food and shelter as well as learning and child protection services.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute all procurement-related activities under the Drought Resilience and Sustainable Livelihoods programme (DRSLP 2)
  • Plan and execute Somalia Project and other projects funded by the African Development Bank (AfDB) using AfDB procurement policies and procedures under the guidance of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD)
  • Be the main link between the Save the Children procurement function and procurement counterparts in IGAD and AfDB
  • In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in relevant in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Public Procurement, or a related field from a reputable university
  • Professional procurement certification, like CIPS and CPSM, is a plus
  • Five years, minimum, of relevant experience handling projects financed by multilateral development banks (strong preference for experience in AfDB-funded projects) and/or other international/bilateral aid agencies
  • Professional knowledge of public procurement legislation and international/national procurement policies and procedures
  • Strong communication, analytical, project management and problem-solving skills
  • Strong track record of integrity and exposure to best-in-class processes of managing integrity issues with vendors
  • Good oral and written communication skills in English
  • Ability to build effective working relationships quickly with a wide range of people, both internally and externally
  • Excellent planning, management and coordination skills, with the ability to organise a substantial workload comprising complex, diverse tasks and responsibilities
  • Willingness and ability to travel and work in Somalia
