Save the Children is seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Child Protection Advisor.
The organisation works to ensure children around the world get health care, food and shelter as well as learning and child protection services.
Responsibilities
- Work to support the technical quality of the child protection programme in Egypt
- Lead in shaping child protection technical strategies in line with SCI Egypt’s strategic priorities
- Ensure all child protection interventions follow global approaches and standards and are of a high technical quality
- Working with teams across the organisation, ensure the quality of SCI’s child protection programming in Cairo, Upper Egypt and Lower Egypt
- Contribute to project and proposal development, as well as provide advice to ensure communications development and products adhere to protection standards
- Play a critical role in networking and relationship building with key stakeholders at national and local levels and provide direct technical support to national level agencies on selected initiatives
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Social Sciences, International Development, or a related field
- Ten years, minimum, of experience in a child protection programming in a humanitarian and development programme context
- Three years, minimum, of experience in child protection programming in a senior management/advisory position
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, including excellent internal consultation, liaison, facilitation and coaching skills
- Understanding of and commitment to principles of the Convention on the Rights of the Child
- Knowledge and understanding of international standards, including the Alliance for Child Protection in Humanitarian Action’s Minimum Standards for Child Protection and Quality Assessment Framework for Case Management (QAF), and sphere core humanitarian standards
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of the Egyptian national child protection system
- Excellent analytical and creative abilities with strong results orientation
- Fluency in English and Arabic (spoken and written)
- Commitment to Save the Children values and child safeguarding
- Experience in capacity building and training delivery
