The South African National Editors’ Forum (SANEF) has launched a relief fund for journalists who have lost their livelihoods due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

It is understood that the Social Justice Initiative (SJI) is acting as a fiscal host for the relief fund and will be playing an oversight role to ensure that the fund is fairly and transparently distributed.

process the applications.
As a result of the pandemic, over 700 journalists in South Africa have reportedly lost their jobs.
