Rainforest Alliance is seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Director.

The Rainforest Alliance is an international nonprofit working at the intersection of business, agriculture, and forests to make responsible business the new normal.

Responsibilities
  • Foster a culture of deep coordination and collaboration amongst the team, and with colleagues from all relevant units across the region and globally
  • Ensure excellence in all aspects of Rainforest Alliance mission delivery in DRC, including safeguarding the quality of implementation of certification programmes
  • Build partnerships with producer communities, civil society organisations, donors, corporations and governments
  • Lead the development and implementation of the RDC country strategy, in line with Rainforest Alliance strategies and priorities, and ensure consultation and alignment with other departments in the organisation
  • Ensure timely completion of programme progress reports and annual planning
  • Oversee planning and budgeting, reporting and contractual compliance with third parties per Rainforest Alliance and other applicable requirements
  • Collaborate with Rainforest Alliance leadership to effectively manage risks, crises and conflicts

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Natural Resources Management, Development, Project Management, or any related discipline
  • Ten years, minimum, of experience in developing and managing projects and programmes in forestry and/or agriculture in the region with the involvement of the private sector and/or certification schemes
  • Five years, minimum, of direct experience in preparing and implementing grants funded by bilateral and multilateral organisations and companies
  • Three years, minimum, of experience in people management
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships of trust and confidence with national and international stakeholders and relevant platforms
  • Experience with regional strategy and budget development and implementation
  • Strong organisational skills to manage multiple priorities in a time-sensitive manner
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to interact culturally, linguistically, and diplomatically with diverse internal and external individuals
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, in French and working knowledge of English
  • Ability and willingness to travel at least 30 percent of the time nationally and internationally
