Plan International is seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of WASH Programme Lead.

Plan International is an independent development and humanitarian organisation that advances children’s rights and equality for girls.

Responsibilities

  • Design WASH programme/project in line with the organisation’s programme quality framework and country strategy
  • Carry out monitoring and evaluation of project
  • Prepare and share presentation of project achievements, lessons, Plan International Ethiopia WASH best experiences/practices, achievements, case stories to potential donors/government
  • Participate in different national level consultation, advocacy meeting coordinated by the federal ministries
  • Participate and lead in different national level platforms
  • Engage in different sector platform meetings which are useful for advocacy, influencing, visibility, learning and sharing, support and fund raising purpose
  • Project budget management, monitoring and follow-up according to specified WBS/purpose
  • Ensure that all staff in the unit/function/department are properly inducted on and understandstheir role in upholding Plan International’s safeguarding and GEI policies
  • Ensure that Plan International’s global policies for Safeguarding Children and Young People and Gender Equality and Inclusion are fully embedded in day-to-day work
  • Ensure that Plan International Ethiopia contributes to Plan International’s global efforts to ensure safeguarding and GEI

Requirements

  • Masters degree or equivalent in Hydraulic Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Irrigation Engineering, sanitary Engineering, Water Supply Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Seven years, minimum, of relevant experience, with three years in a managerial position with an NGO
  • Depth and breadth of knowledge of Plan International’s global and national strategies and policies
  • Ability to communicate effectively and authoritatively on area of expertise
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships across a network
  • Considerable experience in managing WASH programmes
  • Experience in construction contract management, AutoCAD, GIS, WASH and nutrition certificates, Gender WASH monitoring tool (GWMT), gender marker
  • Experience in supervision of a wide variety of water-supply projects
  • Experience in preparation of bills of quantities and contract tendering
  • Experience and knowledge of gender transformative and climate resilient WASH programmes
  • Experience of managing water programme implementation and working in partnership
  • Experience in capacity-building of partners and staff
  • Experience of linking WASH interventions with nutrition and food security programme designs
  • Knowledge of development partner/donor need, trends, challenges and opportunities and implications to the programme design, and fundraising work
  • Fluency in English language
  • In addition to Amharic, knowledge of local languages (desirable)
