Plan International is seeking to fill the role of Thematic Lead, Child Protection in Emergency.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure/lead on initial rapid and in-depth assessment of current situation using the interagency child protection minimum standards and youth assessment resource toolkit in collaboration with partners and affected population
  • Develop a realistic evidence‐based, child protection programme plan with interventions based on the outcome of assessments
  • Ensure Plan International’s guidelines and the interagency minimum standards for child protection
  • Provide technical support for the development of response strategy and make sure child protection thematic areas are presented in light of the protection concerns of girls and adolescent girls in Plan International Ethiopia operation area and linked to the global strategic roadmap
  • Ensure effective planning, implementation and coordination of inclusive child protection programming that addresses the key child protection needs and barriers identified as well as child protection mainstreaming
  • Work closely with and supervise/guide coordinators to ensure implementation of relevant activities
  • Provide technical guidance and direction to ensure effective planning, implementation and monitoring of agreed child protection and youth programme plans
  • Develop capacity building plans and provide training, support and mentoring to child protection and youth programming staff and partners
  • Design and develop appropriate monitoring, evaluation and learning systems for child protection interventions in collaboration with the MEAL team at country office
  • Ensure collection of quantitative and qualitative data and document key learning from the child protection response
  • Ensure early and rigorous implementation of quality and accountability mechanisms, as well as feedback from the affected population and other relevant stakeholders

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Sociology, Psychology, Human Rights, Law,  International Relations, Political Science, or International Development
  • Five years, minimum, of experience in the NGO sector or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships across a network
  • Experience working with international non-governmental organisation, preferably leading refugee and migration responses and/or wide range of disaster
  • Knowledge of existing policies and technical understanding of gender equality approach, education in emergency, child protection and social inclusion
