Plan International is seeking to fill the role of Roving Project (RP) Coordinator.

Responsibilities

  • Establish solid working relationship with the project steering committee and manage communications, ensuring stakeholders are aware of project activities, progress, and exceptions
  • Advise the beneficiaries on issues that may impact the achievement of their outcomes
  • Embed sustainability dimensions, including social, gender and disability inclusion, environmental and economic aspects into project life cycle
  • Actively interact with other project coordinators and their officers to share case studies, lessons learnt and best practice on the knowledge system
  • Set job description for new project(s) staff as well as set new projects on organisational operating system
  • Perform the team manager role, unless appointed to another staff member
  • Support in designing appropriate programme interventions based on the outcome of assessments and context
  • Ensure issues of gender, disability inclusion, DRR, and conflict sensitivity are factored into the programme design
  • Ensure Plan International guidelines and humanitarian response plan are considered and any departures documented
  • Provide regular updates to the deputy emergency response manager, humanitarian unit and the rest of the CO on progress, priorities and constraints
  • Report on sectoral activities/strategies to donors and other stakeholders
  • Perform any other project-related duties as specified by the deputy emergency response manager

Requirements

  • University degree or equivalent in Social Sciences, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field
  • Four years, minimum, of experience working in emergency settings, and project and budget management
  • Good knowledge and understanding of sphere and core humanitarian standards
  • Experience with participatory approaches to emergency preparedness, crisis/emergency relief management and a related area
  • Strong knowledge of core principles of children rights, participation, ‘do no harm’ principles, as well as children in emergency minimum standards
  • Experience working with IDPs, refugees and other vulnerable populations
  • Strong ability to work independently, organise work, meet deadlines, maintain composure, prioritise work under pressure, coordinate multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills, creativity and flexibility
  • Excellent written and spoken English with good command of Hausa language
  • Excellent understanding of SAP application and programme setup
