Plan International has opened applications for the role of Project Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct partnership management and compliance with the Building Better Partnership Guidance
  • Ensure seamless team management and development, programme delivery, quality control, monitoring and evaluation
  • Develop and implement strategies for the UNPBF project in line with the global strategy, and donor requirements and ensure satisfactory completion of programme objectives
  • Develop initiatives and strategies that will ensure the protection and right of children in Liberia
  • Work closely with Plan Ireland to achieve a cohesive and coordinated approach to UNPBF project implementation in Liberia
  • Keep close contact with the relevant line ministries
  • Develop and maintain good professional relations with traditional and government bodies at the various counties/communities so as to contribute to influencing child rights policy at the national level
  • Develop the quarterly financial forecast to ensure the appropriate use of the funding budget
  • Prepare and submit monthly and quarterly work plans and progress reports detailing tasks (including monitoring plans)
  • Submit monthly project updates to the head of programmes using the appropriate template
  • Perform monthly expenditure analysis of all activities with the support of the project accountant
  • Ensure documentation of UNPBF case studies, best practices and lessons learnt
  • Organise budget monitoring meetings and implementing partner staff and submit reports of such meetings to the head of programmes and the country finance manager
  • Ensure compliance with donor requirements
  • Ensure the donor asset register is updated on a quarterly basis and copies placed in the project files
  • Ensure proper filing of all project documents per internal contracts
  • Participate in the monthly project coordination meetings led by the head of programmes to monitor the progress of the logical framework and activity planning
  • Support the preparation of the Plan International Liberia quarterly report
  • Ensure child protection is mainstreamed into all community development-related programme activities in the counties/communities to meet Plan International goals
  • Participate in and support the organisation’s local partner implementation of activities in order to increase the impact of the UNPBF project
  • Assist in designing training tools for partner training and arrange for refresher training for partners and staff where necessary

Requirements

  • University degree, or equivalent practical experience in interdisciplinary areas, within Human Rights, Social Sciences, International Development and Programme Leadership
  • Five years, minimum, of demonstrable experience in leadership and management of development work, preferably in the INGO sector, with evidence of project management skills or training
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to undertake strategic and programme planning, and budget management with good Excel skills and analytical writing skills that reflect results
  • Good communication and facilitation skills
  • Strong understanding of gender equality programming and meaningful child participation
  • Knowledge of development challenges and contexts in Liberia, particularly child rights, girls’ rights and child protection
  • Demonstrated experience working collaboratively and supportively without the need for close supervision
  • Proficient computer skills and use of relevant software and other applications (e.g., word processing, spreadsheet, database, internet, SAP)
  • Experience in project management and community-led approaches
  • Ability to perform under stress
  • Lead through vision and mission and a personal commitment to children’s development and protection
