Plan International is seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Project Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Provide overall management and coordination of all work streams, including community and operations in the mobilisation and delivery of programme results
  • Manage the project team, providing coaching, mentoring and quality assurance of their work
  • Support and conduct recruitment and performance appraisals of staff and identify their training needs
  • Write progress reports for internal and external use according to the standard or specifications required by donor or as may be required by the organisation’s leadership
  • Participate and lead programme-related workshops, review meetings, training and community engagement drives
  • Ensure project activities are on track, managing risks and escalating issues, including developing and implementing solutions as necessary
  • Oversee timely submission of programme reports, meeting institutional and donor requirements, sharing challenges and successes
  • Monitor funding commitments, project spending against budget, preparation and submission of required programme progress and financial reports on a regular basis
  • Ensure financial processes comply with relevant sections of the financial manual, donor compliance protocols, and other partnership standards
  • Support the resource allocation process and ensure appropriate controls are maintained at all levels
  • Anticipate major costs and cash flow requirements in order to mobilise appropriate funding streams
  • Support the monitoring and evaluation specialists to ensure that internal monitoring is carried out effectively and that external impact evaluations are being conducted in the manner intended
  • Work with the monitoring and evaluation team to develop and track relevant project documents and systems
  • Apply the internal monitoring and evaluation system in collaboration with the project team
  • Ensure the documentation of lessons learnt and best practices are shared through internal and external organisation’s knowledge-sharing forums
  • Manage the relationship and deliverables of the external evaluation partner in line with donor requirements
  • Work with the national, regional and district GES and MoE stakeholders to ensure project sustainability
  • Sustain positive partnerships and networking relationships with key stakeholders on projects to influence policies and practices
  • Actively communicate and maintain good working relationships with external suppliers who collaborate with Plan International in various ways in the delivery of distance learning models

Requirements

  • University degree in Education, Development Studies, Gender Studies, Development Economics or a similar field
  • Master’s degree in Education or Development Studies
  • Five years, minimum, of field experience with NGOs in developing countries
  • Experience in education development projects and familiarity with the girls’ education sector in Ghana
  • Experience of budget management within donor-funded project
  • Experience working in Ghana, especially in rural areas
