Plan International is seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Livelihood Officer.

Responsibilities

  • Take part in community-based mobilisation and sensitisation meetings and introduce the livelihood and vocational training component of the project to target communities
  • Take part in the process of identification and registration of beneficiaries
  • Based on the interest, skills and knowledge of beneficiaries, recommend feasible income-generation activities to beneficiaries
  • Support capacity-building of livelihood and vocational training beneficiaries
  • Support implementation of project baseline, midterm and final evaluation
  • Mobilise and make communities aware of project objectives, outputs and activities
  • Ensure community mobilisation, and facilitate community-based project activities through regular interaction with adolescent boys and girls and young people and community members, including providing training, guidance and support
  • Conduct necessary meetings, discussions and sensitisation tied to community targeting
  • Assist in beneficiary selection in a participatory and transparent manner and take steps to ensure that the programme benefits the most vulnerable and most disadvantaged adolescent boys and girls and young people
  • Facilitate and lead capacity-building workshops and training (business skills, financial education…) for target beneficiaries and variety of stakeholders
  • Liaise with local authorities and departmental officials regarding the project activities as necessary
  • Assist supervisor in preparing project work plan and budget estimation
  • Keep records of project activities, and report regularly the project progress to supervisor
  • Provide support during donor monitoring and senior management visits as well as consultant/technical support visits to the field site
  • Carry out any other duties and tasks assigned by supervisor

Requirements

  • University degree in social sciences
  • Two years of experience in humanitarian and/or development context
  • Knowledge and/or experience with Plan International will be an added advantage
  • Ability to speak English
  • Ability to speak one or more local languages of the assigned zone will also be an added advantage
  • Proven skills in community mobilisation and facilitation
  • Familiarity with behaviour change communication, participatory methodologies and gender mainstreaming
  • Experience in working with children (boys and girls) and vulnerable people
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Good knowledge of the targeted area
  • In-depth experience in market assessment and value chain analysis
  • Good knowledge and field experience in urban refugee policy, guidelines
  • One year experience in the livelihood sector
  • Good knowledge and understanding of humanitarian principles and established international child protection standards is an asset
  • Demonstrable technical expertise in livelihood activity implementation, monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning
