Plan International is seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Grants Accountant.

Plan International is an independent development and humanitarian organisation that advances children’s rights and equality for girls.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare grants financial reports to ensure that management and donors receive the needed data with the required quality standards in line with Plan International policies and guidelines
  • Contribute to the development of the management and quarterly reports
  • Financially monitor the implementation of the follow-up actions to address audit recommendations
  • Provide on-job and classic training sessions and technical support for Plan International partners
  • Maintain transparent, detailed reporting systems to enable colleagues, Plan International management and external parties to understand the relevant budgets
  • Contribute to the development of plans for building the capacity of project
  • Provide technical support to Plan International staff and conduct training sessions on grant compliance and the regulations of complex donors
  • On a monthly basis, prepare programme accounting spreadsheet for assigned grants
  • Ensure all costs associated with grant are properly recorded and all costs charged against the grant are appropriate and adjust as necessary
  • Review all process of any project requests related to programme unit to ensure budget availability and alignment with Plan International financial policies and procedures
  • Review and process pay requests from Project All Partners in line with Plan International/donor’s guidelines and policies
  • Monitor the advance payments and settlements for all partners
  • Record all transactions related to national partners at country office level into the financial system

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree/higher diploma in Accounting, preferably with CIMA, ACCA or CMA certifications
  • Five years, minimum, of experience in a similar role in an international non-governmental organisation
  • Analytical skills
  • Fluency in English
  • Communication skills appropriate to the audience
  • Computer skills and ability to use relevant accounting software packages
  • Experience with SAP system
