Plan International is seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Roving Gender, GBV and Inclusion Specialist.

Responsibilities 

  • Conduct timely, quality and comprehensive Rapid Gender Analysis (RGA) to inform programme design and organisational advocacy efforts
  • Establish monitoring systems with respect to GBV, gender and inclusion in emergency-affected areas and conduct regular gender equality and inclusion assessments to identify areas of improvement
  • Lead the implementation and operationalisation of Gender Equality and Inclusion Self-Assessment (GEISA) findings in close coordination with relevant team members within the office and beyond
  • Support the programme team in the development of a ‘Gender and Age Marker’ (GAM) during the development and review of proposals and provide technical input on assessment tools to ensure that tools can meet the needs of people affected by crisis
  • Ensure that the organisation’s GBV and gender assessment activities are coordinated with protection actors, stakeholders and governmental and non-governmental agencies
  • Identify potential partnerships to implement recommendations, assess potential partners when available, or make recommendations on how to fill gaps
  • Provide advice on gender, GBV and inclusion programming
  • Generate evidence and share lessons learnt on gender transformative approaches for organisational strategic decisions

Requirements

  • University degree in Social Sciences, Gender Studies, Psychology, Law, Education or a related field
  • Five years, minimum, of progressively higher experience in the sector of protection, gender, GBV, and inclusion, preferably in a humanitarian setting
  • Demonstrable technical expertise in implementing community-based responses to GBV
  • Practical experience with gender needs assessment, gender analysis, and other gender tools in the field
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of gender mainstreaming and inclusion, as well as gender transformative approaches in all programmes and projects
  • Extensive experience and expertise in addressing GBV, particularly in a humanitarian context
  • Experience in gender advocacy, influencing and networking
  • Experience designing and delivering training for staff and partners
  • Experience with participatory methodologies and humanitarian context
  • Experience in conducting GBV and child protection assessments in emergency contexts
  • Experience providing training on technical areas of GBV/child protection to a diverse audience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Methodical and strategic thinking
  • Good communication skills (oral and written)
  • Fluency in French and good knowledge of English
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Experience working with different donor agencies
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Knowledge of protection standards and practices, including child protection and the prevention of sexual exploitation, abuse and harassment, and a commitment to integrate and follow them in a complex programme
