Plan International is seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Field Officer.

Responsibilities

  • Enhance community participation in project planning, implementation and monitoring
  • Develop monthly activities and budget plans to be implemented as per approved work plan
  • Ensure all activities are on track with appropriate scheduling, quality and timelines
  • Build relationship with relevant staff to ensure all logistics and procurement processes are in conformity with Plan International’s policies, procedures and standards
  • Facilitate access to relevant and accurate information on project to stakeholders, including government officers, parents, and children
  • Enhance gender mainstreaming in the project cycle
  • Facilitate all building-relation requirements
  • Prepare a breakdown of project budget by interventions
  • Monitor expenditures by interventions and ensure compliance with approved budget
  • Review expenditure reports on a monthly basis
  • Consolidate/write project reports in line with the laid down requirements and the organisation’s standards
  • Work with the programme team and the monitoring and evaluation team in documenting project achievements and lessons learnt
  • Contribute to documentation and sharing of best practices with all stakeholders
  • Facilitate and coordinate joint reflection sessions at subcounty and/or county level
  • Engage and maintain cordial stakeholder relationships for effective project delivery throughout the project cycle
  • Maintain a high level of external communication/contact at the community and county levels
  • Manage community conflicts
  • Maintain good working relationships with other civil society organisations (CSOs)
  • Engage and influence different technical working groups at subcounty level
  • Supervise the field activities implemented, ensuring their accordance with the regulations and policies of Plan International and the donor
  • Issue advances and settlements with close follow-up on expenditure
  • Ensure quality and timely implementation of the agreed activities with relevant stakeholders
  • Ensure that Plan International’s global policies for safeguarding children and young people policy and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI) are fully embedded in accordance with the principles and requirements of the policy

Requirements

  • University degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies or a related discipline
  • Three years, minimum, of implementing project activities directly for a project of similar level
  • Experience of working on protection, women/girls empowerment, economic empowerment and education
  • Experience in planning, budgeting, work plan development, project implementation, monitoring, reporting and evaluation
  • Experience in planning and facilitating training/workshops
  • Good command of English language will be an asset
  • Demonstrated report-writing skills
  • Experience in working with children and understanding their special needs
  • Proven analytical skills in result-oriented task prioritisation and problem-solving
  • Capacity to take initiatives and work both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication, planning and organisational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and team work abilities
  • Understanding of and commitment to the promotion of gender equality, child and youth safeguarding and inclusion of the most vulnerable groups
  • Knowledge and understanding of the local context and of interaction with local development actors and communities
