Plan International is seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Field Coordinator.

Plan International is an independent development and humanitarian organisation that advances children’s rights and equality for girls.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain good relations with local government and other organisations and actors targeting out-of-school children in order to ensure a common and coordinated approach
  • Coordinate and implement regional awareness campaigns for project communities in close partnership with local government in order to promote the direct enrolment of out- out-of-school children in primary schools
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with primary school leaders and oversee retention activities, such as remedial classes and in-kind scholarship, organised in primary schools
  • Oversee the NGOs and the quality of the gateway centres by ensuring all staff members are well trained, the pedagogical monitoring of the gateway centres takes place as planned, and the budget and standards of the gateway centres are respected
  • Supervise the coordinators, supervisors and pedagogical advisors of the bridging centres in order to ensure the quality of programme
  • In matters relating to bridging schools, work in partnership with educational advisors, ensure the training and quality assurance of NGOs, according to existing standards
  • Liaise with local governments for accurate data collection from gateway centres and transition to formal schools
  • Provide oversight and ensure enrolment and retention data from gateway centres and primary schools is captured in the project’s monitoring and evaluation system in collaboration with monitoring and evaluation advisors
  • Coordinate, monitor and provide reports on regional activities
  • Collect, review and forward disbursement requests, as well as financial supporting documents to other members of the country project team
  • In agreement with the project team at national level and local governments, define the framework for reporting government input if it is accepted that this activity will be done at regional rather than national level

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in development project management or Diploma in Education, Sociology, Anthropology, or a related field
  • Four years, minimum, of experience in local development project management in the education development sector and in the management of large-scale projects
  • Fluency in French
  • Kknowledge of English is an asset
  • Experience working in regional capitals and fluency in local languages ​​is appreciated
  • Knowledge of the basic education sector
  • Good understanding of the education system (problems, strategies, and actors, public and private providers, partners, and NGOs)
  • A solid experience of mobilisation, organisation and capacity building at community and school level
  • Sensitivity to inclusive education
  • Competence in project planning, budget monitoring and project monitoring and evaluation
  • Ability to work in a team and in coordination with other NGOs
  • Experience in team management (supervision and technical support)
  • Demonstrated experience in project budget management
  • Good writing, monitoring and evaluation skills
  • Goo knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Outlook, and the Internet
