Plan International is seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Director of Programmes.

Plan International is an independent development and humanitarian organisation that advances children’s rights and equality for girls.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a technical steer towards the approved strategic direction while building on the gains made under past and existing projects and programmes
  • Oversee the full portfolio of post-award management of programmes, their approaches and procedures
  • Lead the end-to-end process of programming guided by Plan International’s global programme thematic frameworks and project management standards
  • Provide thought leadership on innovative and bold programme solutions and guide the programmes team to realise the organisation’s strategic ambition
  • Ensure collaborations internally and externally in quality programming, sharing knowledge, co-designing, and coordinating with various stakeholders from project participants to government and NGO partners

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, but preferably master’s level, in Human Development Studies or Social Sciences
  • Ten years, minimum, of experience in programming and working in the INGO sector, with regional experience an added advantage
  • Demonstrable record of accomplishment in developing child rights-related policies, country strategies and programmes
  • Solid experience in programme and budget management working in conflict and post-conflict, complex contexts
  • Experience in introducing and managing change and systems/tools, including working with analytical tools
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and nurturing people and diverse teams
  • Proven records of project/product development for diverse donors and working with various donors and funds
  • Track record establishing strong, equal, and robust partnerships, building capacity, and strengthening civil society
  • Proven experience of working with senior officials in both the public/government and private sector, and with research institutes
  • Experience in managing rapid onset and slow onset humanitarian response
