Plan International is seeking to fill the role of Digital Solution Director.

Plan International is an independent development and humanitarian organisation that advances children’s rights and equality for girls.

Responsibilities

  • Consult with heads of operations and programmes departments to identify issues they are facing
  • Design tailor-made applications that contribute to solving the identified problems and ensure their good understanding by the user and smooth implementation
  • Provide timely technical support that deals in a sustainable manner with any problem that may hinder the proper use of the applications
  • Provide training to users of these platforms
  • Establish a proactive feedback mechanism with a clear understanding of the role and responsibility of all stakeholders
  • Work with Mano River cluster administration and logistics, finance, I.T. and human resources officials to identify work processes related to each of them
  • Evaluate the existing digitisation solutions in each of the cluster Manor River countries and inform the technical managers of the necessary improvements
  • Promote good digitisation practices within the cluster by creating a healthy exchange platform in the thematic areas of the cluster
  • Support the local I.T. manager to ensure the digitisation of the main work processes
  • Advise the management of the Mano River cluster in order to opt for the best digitisation solutions
  • Use innovative technologies to ensure data security throughout the cluster and alert Mano River cluster leaders to any danger
  • Maintain a risk register for the implementation of digitisation and ensure corrective actions are identified and monitored
  • Liaise with leader or programme to identify areas where digital solutions may be needed
  • Periodically check the YODA platform and guide the teams so that they can best meet the system requirements
  • Evaluate existing digital solutions in areas related to the programme and explore ways to improve them and, where appropriate, develop new, more efficient digital solutions

Requirements

  • Five years, minimum, of experience as a technical support specialist or similar customer support role for digital products
  • Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills, with some experience in project management
  • Basic understanding of HTML, Google content management systems and properties, including Google Drive and Google Sheets
  • Experience in working closely with various stakeholders
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills coupled with the ability to tell a story with data
  • Self-motivation and the ability to stay focused
  • Ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects in a matrix environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to effectively liaise with colleagues at all levels in a distributed, multicultural and detail-oriented environment
  • Ability to communicate and coordinate work effectively with stakeholders and colleagues who have different priorities
  • Resilience in the face of multiple challenges and blockers
  • Flexibility in applying standard technology practices to meet programme and operational challenges
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Attention to detail while being able to multitask
  • Ability to create an organisational culture based on inclusion and diversity
  • Ability to explicitly and visibly challenge prejudices and gender-based discrimination that exist in organisational functioning and organisational processes
  • Ability to put in place mechanisms supporting accountability to communities and donors for safeguarding
