Pact World is seeking to fill the role of Capacity Development Manager.
The organisation promotes public health, capacity development, governance and civil society.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of the project’s overall CD strategy to strengthen the technical and organisational capacity of new and under-utilised organisations, while maintaining performance and quality of Covid-19 interventions
- Carry out daily monitoring of implementation of CD activities by mentoring technical teams in the field, ensuring adherence to targets, timelines, budget management, and achievement of objectives
- Lead/coordinate strategy development, implementation, and monitoring of all project activities concerning CD
- Create a CD agenda and implement a system designed to identify lessons learnt and disseminate timely information
- Introduce/facilitate network strengthening activities to identify barriers and opportunities for responding to Covid-19
- Provide innovative solutions for cross-sectoral collaboration and innovative partnerships to effectively respond to the pandemic
- Lead the technical and contextual adaptation of Pact’s CD tools and approaches to support achievement of programme objectives and targets
- Support the development and realisation of local organisations’ resource mobilisation and sustainability strategies, including TA for transitioning to direct USAID funding
- Support activities focused on private sector engagement in responding to Covid-19
- Support knowledge management, linkages and exchange of learnings and best practices across programme activities and project teams
- Ensure strong coordination of multiple locations, staff, technical teams, and sub-partners to develop, modify and monitor programming elements
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Public Health, International Development, or a related field
- Ten years, minimum, of experience in providing capacity development technical support and oversight to large, complex, donor-funded projects in developing or transitional countries
- Excellent grasp of participatory CD methodologies
- Excellent facilitation and training skills in a variety of health and organisational development topics
- Demonstrated track record of successfully building and effectively managing diverse teams of employees
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal and creative problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated ethical management practices
- Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with governments and civil society partners
- Professional-level English language skills (written and oral)
- Be highly proficient in public speaking and giving concise and insightful presentations of complex data
- Ability to travel within South Africa periodically
- Previous senior-level management and/or advisory experience working on USAID-funded projects preferred
- South African nationals or permanent residents preferred
