The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) has opened applications for Programme Management Internship.
The OHCHR is a department of the United Nations that works to promote and protect the human rights that are guaranteed under international law and stipulated in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights of 1948.
The intern shall support OHCHR in fulfilling its mission: to work for the protection of all human rights for all people; to help empower people to realize their rights; to assist those responsible for upholding such rights in ensuring that they are implemented.
Responsibilities
- Assist the team in the development, planning, implementation and evaluation of training and human rights promotion activities in cooperation with the concerned governments, national institutions, regional organisations
- Contribute to the development of activities aimed at promoting international and regional human rights conventions among the AU member states
- Participate, as appropriate, in various meetings, consultations and coordination with various partners in the region
- Participate in internal staff meetings and follow up on relevant issues upon request
- Assist in the day-to-day work of the office, including the provision of support in the organisation of training workshops, conducting research on requested topics, preparing reports documentation and/or presentations, drafting correspondence letters
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor
Requirements
- Applicant should, at the time of submission, be in the final academic year of a first-level university degree programme
- If selected, applicant must commence the internship on the date indicated on the acceptance letter
- Fluency in English
