The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is seeking to fill the role of Monitoring and Evaluation Assistant.

NRC provides assistance, protection and durable solutions to refugees and internally displaced persons worldwide.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to NRC policies, guidance and procedures
  • Assist and contribute to the development and implementation of monitoring and evaluation systems, including monitoring and evaluation SOPs, guidance and tools
  • Participate in programme design and implementation tracking activities in the field, including distribution and post distribution monitoring
  • Work in close collaboration with the monitoring and evaluation officer and update monthly project progress on the system using data from area office monitoring and evaluation matrixes
  • Assist the monitoring and evaluation officer to generate and share field reports on project progress from the online Global Output and Outcome reporting System
  • Compile and file electronic copies of all beneficiary lists and other relevant means of verification in close collaboration with core competency officers/technical officers
  • Support the implementation of surveys with quantitative and qualitative tools as part of data collection initiatives in the monitoring and evaluation unit
  • Make sure complete and accurate project data are reported timely to the monitoring and evaluation officer and area manager, monitoring and evaluation coordinator, monitoring and evaluation manager with necessary disaggregation (data by area/location, core competency, gender, type of beneficiaries
  • Actively participate in need assessments, baseline and end line surveys particularly field data collation, using mobile data collection methods, training and supervising enumerators, data entry and analysis
  • Support field programme staff to implement project level assessments, including PDMs, baseline survey using mobile data collection methods, outcome measurement, and multisector area level assessments
  • Provide support to the officers in the implementation of a Complaints Response and Feedback Mechanism (CFM) by creating compliant database
  • Support the rollout of digital-based data collection using mobile phones/tablets

Requirements

  • Proven practical experience in the planning and execution of monitoring and evaluation
  • One year, minimum, of humanitarian and development programme experience
  • Experience in data collection, analysis, management and development of reports
  • Experience in managing data from different core competencies in a relief programme
  • Proven ability to use MS Office software (especially Word, PowerPoint and Excel)
  • Experience working in complex and volatile contexts
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
  • Fluency in English
  • Experience in report writing
  • Knowledge of Plateau State
