The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) has called for submission of applications for the position of Livelihoods and Food Security Officer (Agriculture).
NRC provides assistance, protection and durable solutions to refugees and internally displaced persons worldwide.
Responsibilities
- Ensure adherence to NRC policies, tools, handbooks, guidelines and donor requirements
- Implement delegated livelihoods and food security project portfolio according to Plan of Action (PoA)
- Prepare and develop status reports as required by management
- Ensure proper filing of documents in accordance with NRC electronic system
- Explore and asses new and better ways to ensure projects target beneficiaries in need
- Coordinate irrigation activities according to strategy, proposals, budgets and plans
- Involve and inform communities and community leaders about the activities
- Break down the annual operational plans into weekly, monthly and quarterly implementation plans
- Work with relevant partners working in the same implementation areas
- Ensure that procurement, development and distribution of materials and equipment are timely and according to procedures
- Supervise, train and develop team of food security assistants
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Agriculture, Agricultural Economics, Crop Science, and Agric Education
- Experienced working as an agricultural extension agent
- Experienced working in Borno preferred
- Experienced working in livelihoods and food security humanitarian/recovery context
- Experience in implementing agriculture support programmes
- Experience with Cash/voucher transfers, farming input distribution and monitoring of agricultural activities
- Experience in beneficiary selection and beneficiary training on irrigation equipment maintenance
