Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is seeking to fill the position of Education Coordinator.
NRC assists and protects refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs).
Responsibilities
- Adhere to NRC policies, guidance and procedures
- Promote the rights of IDPs/returnees in line with the advocacy strategy
- Manage education officers and assistants in field offices and provide them with technical and administrative support
- Identify capacity gaps and provide informal capacity development for staff
- Prepare documents, workplans, activity reports, spending plans and procurement plans for activities
- Ensure that quality activities are implemented on time and in compliance with organisational and donor requirements
- Conduct regular field visits to project locations to ensure timeliness and quality of implementation in the field and provide regular updates on project status
- Contribute to the development of country education strategies and project design
- Apply protection and prevention mechanisms in all project activities and interactions to ensure the safety and well-being of staff and beneficiaries
- Manage and monitor project budgets and ensure spending is compliant with the project budget
- Represent NRC in meetings and work with education actors in the area
- Support the education specialist on development of proposals, concept notes and contextualisation of activities and materials
Requirements
- Two years, minimum, of experience implementing education in a humanitarian, development or recovery context
- Experienced working in complex and volatile contexts
- Technical education expertise in education programming
- Development of reports, workplans and other project planning tools
- Experienced managing staff
- Experienced working with local government and community representatives
- Fluency in English (both written and verbal)
- Candidate with a university degree preferred
