Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is seeking to fill the position of Education Coordinator.

NRC assists and protects refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs).

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to NRC policies, guidance and procedures
  • Promote the rights of IDPs/returnees in line with the advocacy strategy
  • Manage education officers and assistants in field offices and provide them with technical and administrative support
  • Identify capacity gaps and provide informal capacity development for staff
  • Prepare documents, workplans, activity reports, spending plans and procurement plans for activities
  • Ensure that quality activities are implemented on time and in compliance with organisational and donor requirements
  • Conduct regular field visits to project locations to ensure timeliness and quality of implementation in the field and provide regular updates on project status
  • Contribute to the development of country education strategies and project design
  • Apply protection and prevention mechanisms in all project activities and interactions to ensure the safety and well-being of staff and beneficiaries
  • Manage and monitor project budgets and ensure spending is compliant with the project budget
  • Represent NRC in meetings and work with education actors in the area
  • Support the education specialist on development of proposals, concept notes and contextualisation of activities and materials

Requirements

  • Two years, minimum, of experience implementing education in a humanitarian, development or recovery context
  • Experienced working in complex and volatile contexts
  • Technical education expertise in education programming
  • Development of reports, workplans and other project planning tools
  • Experienced managing staff
  • Experienced working with local government and community representatives
  • Fluency in English (both written and verbal)
  • Candidate with a university degree preferred
