Apply: NRC Area Programme Manager

The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Area Programme Manager, West Nile.

NRC provides assistance, protection and durable solutions to refugees and internally displaced persons worldwide.

Responsibilities

  • Line management for core competencies project coordinators in the area
  • Ensure compliance and adherence to NRC policies, guidance and procedures
  • Responsible for grant opening meetings and grant closing meetings at the area level
  • Provide area-specific input relevant to core competencies strategies
  • Ensure compliance with donor standards, grant management and regular reporting to the donor in the area
  • Identify funding opportunities and develop an area funding strategy along with forecasts for the area
  • Responsible for grant-opening meetings and grant-closing meetings at the area level
  • Ensure compliance with contractual commitments, and extract and implement critical learnings from project implementation in the area
  • Ensure capacity building of all technical staff
  • Contribute to the development of area and core competencies strategies
  • Initiate and participate in the development of relevant core competencies projects
  • Deputise area manager
  • Provide regular progress reports to the area manager

Requirements

  • Degree (master’s degree preferred) in Social Work, Development Studies, Humanitarian Studies or a technical qualification in one of the NRC core competenc areas with significant experience in humanitarian work
  • Postgraduate qualification in project planning and management with demonstrated experience will be added advantage
  • Eight years, minimum, of experience with four years, minimum, in a senior programme management position in a humanitarian/recovery context overseeing a varied number of projects with different donors
  • In-depth understanding of the West Nile Refugee context
