Location: Alindao, Central African Republic
Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is seeking to fill the role of Area Manager.
NRC provides assistance, protection and durable solutions to refugees and internally displaced persons worldwide.
Responsibilities
- Provide area specific input on CC strategies, country strategy and plan of action
- Organise grant-opening-and-closure meetings at area level
- Implement projects (including master support budget and coordinating input for donor proposals and reports) in the area in compliance with contractual commitments (i.e., quality, synergies, timeliness, use of resources)
- Conduct regular field missions to monitor project implementation
- Establish a good working environment based on the NRC values
- Recruit local staff according to NRC policies
- Report to the country director any violations of NRC’s personnel policies and code of conduct
- Coordinate NRC programme activities with authorities, United Nations agencies and other national and international agencies/organisations in the area
- Identify, initiate and follow up on advocacy issues and actively promote the rights of returnees and internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the area in close coordination with the country director
Requirements
- Three years, minimum, of experience working as a senior project manager in a humanitarian/recovery context
- Experience working in complex and volatile contexts
- Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
- Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile
- Fluency in French and English (written and verbal)
- Knowledge of the context in Central African Republic will be a plus
- Ability to work in isolated context
