Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is seeking applications from eligible applicants for the role of Humanitarian Access and Security Analyst.
MSF, also known as Doctors Without Borders, is a humanitarian medical non-governmental organisation of French origin best known for its projects in conflict zones and in countries affected by endemic diseases.
Responsibilities
- Support MSF missions/projects working in the region by evaluating access constraints and developing access-specific strategies
- Closely monitor contextual developments and map key crisis drivers (deteriorating factors, structural inequalities, response trends, access issues) at local, national, and regional levels to contextualise security and humanitarian access constraints
- Generate and disseminate regular humanitarian access and security analysis reports of the most recent trends and relevant information concisely and engagingly, focusing on contextual dynamics in the region and country-specific
- Develop and promote a conflict-sensitive mapping and response mechanism, build capacity of field teams on conflict-sensitivity principles; and conduct analysis and reporting
- Support missions and desks on requests for humanitarian and security-related thematic topics with evidence-based analysis and recommendation
- Support internal process aiming at anticipatory action (risk monitoring for early warning and early action, forecasting exercises, scenario planning)
- Carry out analysis and develop reports on regional safety and security to inform management decisions on security risks and opportunities
- Conduct context, security and humanitarian analysis in the region
- Develop a quality assurance framework for safety and security systems and procedures
- Develop/review training modules, and plan and facilitate humanitarian access, safety and security trainings
- Conduct training with exercises and simulations
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree in Management, Political Sciences, Safety or an equivalent qualification from a recognised institution
- Technical degree or certification in a related field with significant applicable experience
- Fluency in spoken and written English and Arabic
- Portuguese/Italian/Spanish is a plus
- Seven years, minimum, of non-profit work experience within international humanitarian assistance programmes with demonstrated capabilities in planning, organising, and executing humanitarian operations safely in the Field
- Experience working with the UNDSS, INSO, INGO forum and similar institutions is an added advantage
- Country director/project coordinator experience is an added advantage
- Strong experience as a trainer; ability to develop, implement, facilitate, and impart learning
- Proven experience in analysis and report writing on access, security, and safety issues
