Mercy Corps is seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Chief of Party for the Community Initiatives to Promote Peace (CIPP) Programme.

Responsibilities

  • Recognise opportunities for innovative action and create an environment where alternative viewpoints are welcomed
  • Set direction by prioritising and organising actions and resources to achieve objectives
  • Oversee the development of annual, integrated strategic workplans for the programme
  • Lead the development of a programme-wide resilience-building framework to guide coordination and integrated implementation
  • Oversee programme startup and ongoing programme management and administration of teams across various field locations
  • Lead the development of detailed implementation plans and ensure the delivery of the plans
  • Lead the socialisation of the programme with government of Nigeria stakeholders, ensuring necessary approvals and collaboration as required
  • Ensure beneficiaries are effectively targeted according to established vulnerability criteria
  • Integrate community approaches, and gender sensitivity and capacity building into all activities as appropriate
  • Provide managerial and programmatic oversight to partners and sub-grantee(s)
  • Document processes and achievements to ensure best practices are captured and disseminated

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Law, Development Studies
  • Bachelor’s degree and five years of relevant international development experience can be substituted for the master’s degree
  • Ten years, minimum, of progressively responsible experience in the successful implementation of international development activities, with preference given to conflict mitigation and/or violent extremism prevention programmes
  • Experience in working in the conflict mitigation/preventing violent extremism sector in Africa is essential
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proven experience navigating complex and high-pressure operating environments
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and sustain interpersonal and professional relationships with different donors, civil society organisations and host country government counterparts
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to use various commercially available accounting software programmes
  • Fluency in spoken and written English
  • Knowledge of a local language is preferred
