Applications are now open for the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Programme at the University of California, Berkeley.
The programme aims to develop a cohort of ethical, entrepreneurial, and energetic young leaders who will drive and lead socio-economic transformation in Africa.
Since 2012, the programme is understood to have created 35,000 scholarships for young people, mostly in sub-Saharan Africa.
Benefits
- Mastercard Foundation scholars will receive travel, tuition, and Berkeley student fees
- They will also receive visa and SEVIS fees as well as housing, food, and living expenses
Eligibility
- Open to a citizen of a sub-Saharan African country
- All prospective scholars must first be admitted to University of California, Berkeley, to be considered for the scholarship
- Applicant should be well-rounded students who are engaged in activities beyond the classroom
- Applicants should be engaged with and passionate about issues affecting their communities
