Marie Stopes International Organisation Nigeria is seeking to fill the role of Finance Officer.

The organisation provides reproductive health care and allied services in over 30 countries.

Responsibilities
  • Review payment request documents for accuracy, ensuring compliance with donor and organisation’s policies and procedures
  • Ensure cost-centre matrix is properly followed
  • Monitor and update payment and expenditure trackers, ensuring proper transaction filing system is maintained for all financial activities at the support office
  • Provide timely preparation of payment vouchers as and when payment is due and actual upload of payments to the banking platform for approval
  • Ensure accurate posting of financial transactions into SUN system
  • Ensure preparation of monthly bank reconciliation of selected support-office-bank accounts that agree with the bank statement for proper signoff and filing
  • Assist with statutory payroll remittances and ensure collection of payment receipts and credit notes
  • Ensure management and reconciliation of withholding tax control accounts
  • Monitor staff accounts and track retirements on regular basis to ensure all advances taken are retired timely
  • Advise FD through the FM in upgrading of financial procedures and policies as and when required and on a timely basis
  • Coordinate closely with the procurement team to rectify all outstanding payments and creditors’ accounts
  • Assist in the departmental monthly expenditure review
  • Assist in the preparation of annual business plan and forecast

Requirements

  • Degree in Accounting with second class upper, minimum, or its equivalent
  • Recognised professional qualification such as ACA, ACCA, could be an added advantage
  • One year, minimum, of post-NYSC experience in a similar role with an NGO/INGO
  • Working knowledge of different donors
  • Ability to use SUN accounting package could be an added advantage
  • Advanced Excel skills preferred
  • Ability to multitask, manage a workload and produce high quality report
  • Good team player
  • Flexibility while working with other colleagues
