The Legatum Centre at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) has opened applications for the Foundry Fellowship.

The six-month fellowship is a leadership programme for Africa-based founders who have developed innovation-driven businesses and are at an inflection point in their entrepreneurial journey.

According to the Legatum Centre, the Foundry is a place where scholarship recipients reflect on their entrepreneurial journey, rethink their future leadership roles as entrepreneurs, investors and opinion leaders, and renew their commitment to building ecosystems focused on entrepreneurship and innovation.

Launched in 2021, the Foundry Fellowship will bring together leaders who have demonstrated their commitment to making change through entrepreneurship and are ready to develop the leadership skills to take them to the next phase of their entrepreneurial journey.

Eligibility

  • Candidate should have founded and developed a company with profit-driven innovation in Africa
  • Open to founders of companies operating in Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, and Uganda
  • Applicants that have founded and developed businesses outside of Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal or Uganda must have a clear interest in supporting economic growth in at least one of the seven countries
  • Applicants willing to devote time and space to their own self-discovery and leadership development in order to reach the next milestone
  • Applicants must be able to participate in regular online sessions and cohort activities
  • Founders of the same company can apply, but each founder must complete a unique application
  • Each founder will be considered as independent of a co-founder
  • MIT alumni and current degree applicants are welcome to apply
