Kofi Annan Foundation has announced a call for applications for the second edition of the Kofi Annan Award for Innovation in Africa.
The award seeks to support technology-powered solutions and approaches that are helping to improve food security and systems in African countries.
Benefits
- Grant of EUR250,000
- Finalists will gain international recognition and exposure
- Nine social enterprises will be accepted to participate in a fully virtual WFP Innovation Bootcamp
- Selected teams will be able to connect with an entrepreneurial ecosystem and leverage a strong network of mentors, investors and businesses to accelerate implementation
- The three winning teams will additionally benefit from the WFP Sprint Programme, a 12-month acceleration programme with access to mentorship, knowledge management and WFP’s global network of partners
Eligibility
- Idea must have the potential to positively impact the health and well-being of a specific population
- Project must be scalable with sustainable revenue generation and scalable financial model
- Team members must have relevant experience, be committed to the project, and have the ability to implement the solution
- Idea must be a new technology, the approach of applying existing technology, process or business model
- Innovation must have shown demonstrable results in terms of revenue, customers, investments, or grants
