The International Research and Exchanges Board (IREX) has launched applications for the Community Solutions Programme (SCP).

The programme is a year-long professional development exercise for people who are working to improve their communities.

It is designed to address issues related to energy and the environment, peace and conflict resolution, transparency and accountability, and women and gender.

Eligibility

  • Applicant must be between the ages of 25 and 38 as of 01 January, 2021
  • Applicant should be living and working in home country
  • Two years, minimum, of experience working on community development as a full-time or part-time employee or volunteer
  • Applicants should not currently be participating in an academic, training, or research programme in the U.S.
  • Applicant must have a high level of proficiency in spoken and written English
  • Semi-finalists will be required to take or submit recent scores for a TOEFL or IELTS English language test
  • Applicant should be available to travel to the U.S. for four months from August to December, 2021
  • Applicant should be eligible to receive a U.S. J-1 visa
  • Applicant must be willing to return to home country for a minimum of two years after completing the programme
  • Applicant should not be current IREX employee or consultant, or their immediate family member
  • Individual with refugee status working on behalf of their home community may be given special consideration
  • Applicants who have participated in an exchange programme sponsored by the U.S. government must have fulfilled their two-year home residency requirement
