International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Finance Assistant.
IRC is a global humanitarian aid, relief, and development non-governmental organisation. It responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises and helps people to survive and rebuild their lives.
Responsibilities
- Effect all approved payments for approved purchase, labour services, etc
- Deposit unpaid and other cash collections to CBE Dollo Ado Bank and OIB Melkadida branch
- Prepare check and effect payments after approval from the designated official
- Mark as ‘PAID’ from online BVA system for effected payments
- Maintain petty cash account and replenish it when it reaches 20 percent
- Withdraw cash for approved cash in office documents and effect the payment on time
- Give strong attention for safety and security of the organisation during cash transfer from bank to office and camp to camp
- Maintain files of financial records, agreements and other documents
- Keep safe box cashes as per the organisation’s cash policy
- Travel to project sites to effect approved payments
- Track any paid-buck payments and file on monthly bases
- Assist the finance manager and finance officer in preparation of the monthly report
- Keep the blank financial vouchers in a locked place
- Make sure the available pads are enough
- Provide maximum care and control the blank checks
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- Diploma in Accounting and two years, minimum, of related international NGO experience will be a plus
- Basic computer knowledge (Word and Excel)
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic knowledge of English (spoken and writing)
- Knowledge of a Somali language will be a plus
