The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking to fill the role of Emergency Health and Nutrition Officer.
IRC is a global humanitarian aid, relief, and development non-governmental organisation.
Responsibilities
- Plan team movement and ensure all service package components are delivered
- Represent IRC and attend necessary meetings during emergencies
- Ensure other team members are doing correct tally, recording, registering and filling
- Verify, compile and share complete timely reports to woreda and regional data manger
- Communicate any shortfalls (programmatic and administrative issues to SRHB and/or supporting partners)
- Ensure emergency health, disease surveillance and nutrition intervention are in accordance with IRC and government guidelines and provide technical support for government health care providers
- Provide support in developing and implementation of a community risk communication strategy
- Work closely with staff from other sectors (WASH, CWI and NFIs) to ensure integrated approach in programme implementation
- Provide and/or facilitate training and workshops as per the project workplan
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by the supervisor or health manager
Requirements
- BSc in Public Health
- Two years, minimum, of work experience for degree holders and one year for master’s degree holders
- Basic supervisory/managerial skills with strong interpersonal skills
- NGO experience in emergency health response preferable
- Demonstrable experience in working with communities in participatory approaches and capacity building of health centre staff
- Ability to plan, organise, and supervise implementation of emergency health response projects
- Good technical and report writing skills with computer knowledge
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure in remote areas and understanding of the cultural context of the local area
