The International Labour Organisation (ILO) is seeking to fill the role of National Officer, Field Technical Training.

The mission of the ILO is to promote rights at work, encourage decent employment opportunities, enhance social protection and strengthen dialogue on work-related issues.

Responsibilities

  • Advise implementing partners with regard to the planning, coordination and implementation of EI training initiatives
  • Coordinate and participate in the carrying out of training needs assessment targeting implementing bodies, private sector, youths, women and PWDs
  • Develop provincial EPWP training plans
  • Update and develop training materials
  • Participate in the training of EPWP infrastructure sector officials involved in coordinating and managing the EPWP in provincial departments and municipalities as well as  private sector officials involved in implementing EPWP roads and other infrastructure or non-infrastructure projects
  • Coordinate and undertake national, regional and international training activities
  • Participate in the design and monitoring of field trials and quality assurance of infrastructure works, ensuring productivity, quality and effectiveness in the delivery of employment intensive infrastructure projects
  • Provide necessary technical support and mentor the emerging entrepreneurs
  • Support all the activities related to the establishment of the Provincial Labour Intensive Training Centre
  • Provide support for other EPWP sectors and government entities including departments and municipalities
  • Support all EPWP-related training activities at the Waterberg TVET College
  • Create and maintain good working relationship and partnership with high learning and research institutions, local TVET colleges as well as sectoral training providers in order to improve quality and sustainability of EI training in the province
  • Assist in preparing periodic and ad hoc reports on the status of the ILO technical assistance to EWPWP and training interventions
  • Perform other relevant duties as required

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Economics, Environmental Economics / Engineering, or a related field
  • Qualification in natural resources management, climate change, or related disciplines with expertise in social analysis will be added advantage
  • Three years, minimum, of professional experience in infrastructure, environmental sector, economic and social development planning or a related area
  • Experience in the EPWP and, in particular, implementing programmes within Limpopo EPWP will be an asset
  • Excellent command of English
  • Ability to speak at least one of the local languages is an asset
