The International Labour Organisation (ILO) is seeking to fill the position of Technical Officer, Extractives and Energy.

The mission of the ILO is to promote rights at work, encourage decent employment opportunities, enhance social protection and strengthen dialogue on work-related issues.

Responsibilities

  • Analyse and disseminate information on the extractives and energy sectors with respect to the decent work agenda and the four strategic objectives of the ILO
  • Conduct analytical and policy-oriented research on trends and developments in extractives and energy, using both quantitative and qualitative research methods, and the analysis of data, statistics, normative frameworks and national policies
  • Provide inputs to reports, working papers and other relevant documents
  • Prepare communication materials and contribute to publications, particularly those related to trends and developments in extractives and energy
  • Contribute to the provision of technical advice and guidance to ILO constituents and other stakeholders on policies and strategies that promote decent work in extractives and energy
  • Participate in the design and implementation of development cooperation programmes and projects as defined by decent work outcomes, in cooperation with technical units at headquarters, ILO constituents and other key stakeholders

Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in a relevant technical field such as Social Sciences, Law or Economics
  • Three years of experience at the national level and two years of experience at the international level in social-economic development issues in extractives and energy
  • Experience in working for a mining, oil and gas or energy company (desirable)
  • Excellent command of one official language (English, French, Spanish) of the organisation
  • Working knowledge of a second official language of the organisation will be an advantage
