The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) is seeking to fill the role of Programme Coordinator.
With 192 member national societies, IFRC is the world’s largest humanitarian organisation.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate the development of the IFRC annual and longer-term operational plans to implement strategy 2030, supporting LRCS in developing programmes and operations relevant to the needs of vulnerable communities and implementing them as per agreed plans of action
- Coordinate strategic planning, implementation and monitoring of all IFRC-supported programmes as part of the operational plan to ensure a coherent approach in the design and delivery, including capacity building
- Lead IFRC support to LRCS in coordinating programmes and operations, and engagement with movement partners, donors and other internal and external stakeholders in coordination with the relevant IFRC technical leads and project managers
- Provide technical guidance and oversight throughout the project management cycle by carrying out assessment, planning, implementation and monitoring of IFRC-funded operations to ensure the application of IFRC standard policies and procedures in close collaboration with the IFRC technical departments
- Monitor internal and regional developments for emerging trends relevant to the support provided to the LRCS through IFRC
- Promote and engage in systematic monitoring and evaluation of IFRC-supported programmes and operations to ensure that implementation is timely, relevant, and effective
- Lead the process of effective, timely and comprehensive reporting to partners and back donors
- Ensure effective reporting to donors and maintain an oversight of all funding and pledges
- Promote opportunities for LRCS to develop capacities of their personnel in managing programme and operation activities in accordance with internationally accepted standards
- Promote the full integration of NSD interventions within and across all programmes and operations to ensure coherent and systematic coordination of capacity building inputs and approaches
- Assume budget holder responsibility for the assigned programmes and operations in line with IFRC financial procedures
- Produce accurate financial and narrative reports as per requirements for the IFRC and for the donors
- Provide strategic and technical advice with technical units on issues across the programming continuum
- Provide strategic direction and technical guidance in operationalising approaches that will strengthen national society’s capacities and enable it to fulfil its humanitarian mandates
- Provide strategic direction and promote uptake of innovative approaches in programmes and operations
- Promote the application and compliance with strategies, policies and tools endorsed by member national society in global and regional statutory mechanisms, including strategy 2030 and the principles and rules of RCRC humanitarian assistance
Requirements
- Relevant university education or equivalent of qualifying experience
- Postgraduate qualification in Management or Leadership preferred
- Basic Delegates Training Course (BTC), WORC, IMPACT or equivalent knowledge
- Seven years, minimum, of experience in the humanitarian or development sector
- Experience with a membership organisation in roles that include member capacity development
- Three years, minimum, of experience in the RCRC movement
- Management and supervisory experience in a multicultural environment
- Experience in coordinating with authorities and other humanitarian/development actors
- Experience in narrative and financial reporting and proposal writing
- Preferably with experience in the Meddle East and North America region
