The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) is seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Programme Coordinator.

IFRC is the world’s largest humanitarian organisation, with 192 member national societies.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure IFRC support to the implementation of the CVM/IFRC relief and recovery activities (health, livelihoods and basic needs, WASH, PGI, DRM) within the scope of approved plan of action and budgets
  • Maintain IFRC relevance, presence in changing operating environment, fixed assets, financial assets and other resources in accordance with IFRC secretariat procedures and regulations
  • Support CVM/IFRC operation team in the management of the day-to-day coordination, and to ensure field delivery systems are routinely coordinated with other programme components, providing an integrated delivery of agreed activities that maximise quality, effectiveness and efficiency
  • Work closely with the operation team to implement and monitor activities
  • Ensure procurement systems are in place for every purchase, according to CVM/IFRC standards
  • Ensure accurate, regular, consistent and timely operational information flow among operational and coordination hubs in Maputo, Beira and Tete
  • Represent the IFRC and build trustful relations with authorities, the UN and international organisations and other organisations in the area of assignments
  • Support the design and drafting, as well as revision and expansion of the plan of action and budget for operation to be relevant in evolving context
  • Represent the IFRC as appropriate in the various interagency forums and coordination mechanisms held in the area of assignment
  • Provide support to the operations manager in different areas of operations, as well as administration, coordination, reporting and management
  • Facilitate field reports/updates of sector inventions to help comply with reporting and donor requirements
  • Ensure an effective handover strategy to support the national society to improve emergency response capacity for the operation

Requirements

  • University degree or higher in Management, Humanitarian Assistance, Development Studies, or a related area
  • Relevant educational and/or professional background in health, livelihood, WASH, PGI, DRR)
  • Cash and voucher assistance (CVA) training
  • Five years, minimum, of professional experience in emergency response, recovery and resilience building, including project planning and monitoring, tracking project progresses and achievements, developing monitoring tools and systems
  • Strong communication and coordination skills
  • Experience in preparation of donor reports
  • Experience in identifying, selecting, and targeting vulnerable groups
  • Experience with budget planning and expenditure monitoring
  • Proven experience in supervising, managing, training and mentoring teams
  • Ability and proven experience in transferring knowledge and skills through formal and informal training of staff and volunteers
