Cornell University’s Institute for Comparative Modernities has opened applications for the 2022 ICM Global South Translation Fellowships.
With an emphasis on developments outside of the historically constituted hegemonic spaces of Europe and the United States, ICM promotes the study of multiple axes of artistic, intellectual and social movements and the struggles attending the emergence of modern institutions and forms of knowledge.
Benefits
- Successful applicants will receive between $1,000 and $5,000 depending on project scope
Eligibility
- Cornell University’s Institute for Comparative Modernities welcomes applications from translators in Africa
- Selected works may be retranslations of old, classic texts, or previously untranslated works, collections of poetry, prose, or critical theory
- The project may be a work-in-process, or a new project manageable within the scope of the award
