Global Communities is seeking applications for the role of Fellowship Project Manager.

Global Communities’ mission is to create long-lasting, positive and community-led change that improves the lives and livelihoods of vulnerable people across the globe.

Responsibilities

• Foster collaborative planning and implementation of the project’s fellowship programme in disaster risk management for youths with the project’s university partners
• Ensure the programme meets its intended goals for all project stakeholders, including young professionals, universities, implementing organisations, and private sector companies
• Collaborate with project staff and partners to develop standard operating guidelines, quality assurance and control systems, milestones, successful startup and efficient technical service delivery mechanisms
• Ensure all project components work together to create multiplier effects across and between technical sectors
• Contribute to the establishment and management of systems to ensure cohesion across all technical sectors of the project
• Ensure that overall technical implementation quality remains consistent and of high quality among all of the sub-awardees and implementation locations
• Plan for and engage in regular opportunities for partners to reflect on progress, such as partner meetings, portfolio reviews, and after-action reviews
• Encourage partner and stakeholder collaboration through activities including joint work planning, regular partner meetings that facilitate knowledge sharing, and/or working groups organised along geographic or technical lines
• Work closely with universities and the organisation’s CLA team to ensure that monitoring, evaluation, and learning feedback loops are properly fed into and utilised by the technical field staff
• Use the knowledge and learning gained from implementation, opportunities to reflect on performance, data monitoring, evaluation, knowledge about the context, and other sources
• Develop systems to identify operational risks and their management and to reduce risks in project implementation
• Establish a culture of evidence-based decision making and data driven analytics in an intentional way that responds to new information and changes in context
• Support the COP in establishing excellent communication protocols and working relationships with GOE, universities, donors, partners and other stakeholders
• Actively engage in the organisation’s effort to embed innovation and support the project team in doing so as well

Requirements

• Master’s degree in an area relevant to disaster risk management and crises response plus three years, minimum, of relevant senior management work experience, or bachelor’s degree and five years, minimum, of relevant senior management experience
• Professional experience should demonstrate progressively increasing responsibilities
• Knowledge and experience working on DRM issues in Ethiopia
• Experience working with universities, government officials and building consensus among diverse actors, including NGOs (local and international), representatives of civil society, the private sector and donors
• Development philosophy in keeping with Global Communities’ mission, vision, core values and approach to integrated, community-driven programming
• Excellent analytical and self-motivation skills
• Excellent advocacy and persuasion skills, and ability to think critically
• Fluency (verbal and written) in English
