The Family Health International (FHI 360) is seeking to fill the role of Chief of Party (CoP).
FHI 360 delivers sustainable, high-quality, comprehensive HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment, care and support services.
Responsibilities
- Lead project team, technical and operational aspects of the project, including planning and implementation
- Ensure clarity over plans and priorities, and encourage effective teamwork and adaptive management
- Oversee a team of senior technical, operations, compliance and finance staff and ensure clear roles and responsibilities and lines of communication are maintained among team members
- Supervise key staff, including ensuring field staff regularly prepare and accurately update performance data
- Provide guidance and mentoring to managers and staff to achieve project goals
- Develop a vision for the project and lead its adaptation based on performance data and regular reviews
- Support professional development of project staff and ensure technical and programme management excellence
- Ensure compliance with USAID and U.S. government rules and regulations
- Review and approve contractual deliverables to meet USAID and corporate reporting requirements that document programme performance and monitor overall award compliance
- Lead preparation of project deliverables, including annual workplans, budgets and project activity updates, and other project-related communication and reporting materials in accordance with USAID deadlines
- Provide overall financial oversight of the budget over the life of the project
- Collaborate with and directly act upon inputs from FHI 360’s contract management team, ensuring continuous compliance of all consortium members with agreement/contract rules and regulations
- Organise project teams and oversee production of standard operating procedures to meet project goals and ensure compliance with policies
- Ensure continuous communication with FHI 360 regional office and technical units at headquarters
- Ensure compliance with FHI 360 policies and procedures and create, promote, and maintain safe and equitable work environments for all FHI 360 personnel
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or its international equivalent (master’s degree highly preferred) in Public Health or a field relevant to the overall objectives of the project
- Ten years, minimum, of project management experience with USAID-funded programmes, with a preference given to programmes that have sought to improve family planning (FP)
- Five years, minimum, of experience serving as a CoP on other USAID-funded programmes
- Experience working with the Ministry of Health and other government entities and civil society organisations
- Experience working on Mozambique
- Strong understanding of high impact practices in FP
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to plan, organise, and manage resources for successful completion of projects
- Experience in leading large teams comprising technical and operations staff
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in Portuguese and English
