Applications are now open for the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation’s (FAO) Young Forest Champions Initiative 2025.

The Young Forest Champions Initiative, under the AIM4Forest programmes, is a dynamic initiative designed to empower youth in Kenya, Zambia, Uganda, and Ghana to take on leadership roles in forest conservation and climate action.

Benefits

This initiative provides mentorship, training, and hands-on experience to young people passionate about restoring forests, monitoring ecosystems using advanced technologies like remote sensing, and protecting vital landscapes.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be between age 18 and 30 years old at the time of application
  • Be a current university student or recent graduate
  • Reside in Kenya, Uganda, Zambia, or Ghana
  • Have an intermediate or higher proficiency in English
  • Have a reliable internet connection to participate in the initiative
  • Commit to full participation in the initiative activities throughout 2025
