Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) is seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Food Security and Conflict Analyst.

FAO is a specialised agency of the United Nations that leads international efforts to defeat hunger.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop and coordinate FAO food security and conflict assessments and analyses (including the assessment of the impacts of Covid-19 on rural populations)
  • Supervise the collection and analysis of primary and secondary, quantitative and qualitative data
  • Write and ensure the quality of analyses produced by FAO
  • Contribute to the formulation of operational recommendations and adequate communication and advocacy actions
  • Identify existing surveillance systems, deficient information sectors and the needs of actors in food security and agriculture and promote the development of information systems and data collection on deficit sectors falling within the scope of FAO expertise
  • Participate in the main analysis exercise in food security, conflict and agricultural assessment
  • Set up and supervise the analysis unit of FAO Mali
  • Advise the FAO Mali management team
  • Develop partnerships with key organisations
  • Ensure FAO’s lead in joint products falling within its mandate and propose data sharing options
  • Support the resource mobilisation strategy for the development of FAO analyses by participating in the development of project proposals to be shared with the government and financial partners

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in Agronomy, Food Security, Nutrition, Economics, Social Sciences, or a field related to FAO’s mandate
  • Three years, minimum, of experience in analysis and information in at least one of these areas: food security, conflict or agricultural sector analysis
  • Fluency in French (level C) and English (level C)
