The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) is seeking to fill the position of Account Officer.
ECOWAS is a 15-member regional group with a mandate of promoting economic integration in all fields of activity of the constituting countries.
Responsibilities
- Prepare financial statements for the Office of Auditor General
- Manage payables and receivables for the Office of Auditor General
- Execute and present for approval the risk assessment for the finance function
- Manage cash controls
- Assist in budget monitoring for the Office of the Auditor General
- Perform tasks while adhering to the code of ethics of professional accountants
- Manage all documents of the finance section of the Office of the Auditor General
- Perform any other duties as directed by supervisor
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or a similar field
- Five years, minimum, of progressively responsible experience in finance, accounting and budget
- Knowledge of and technical competence in financial statement consolidation and ability to respond to internal/external audit queries
- Knowledge of cash management practices, policies and procedures, and the ability to make appropriate recommendations to improve accuracy, security timeliness and efficiency
- Knowledge of various payment systems, banking terminologies, pension fund practices and relevant financial management processes and policies
