Apply: DRC Shelter and Infrastructure Team Leader

Location: Tripoli, Libya

The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is currently seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Shelter and Infrastructure Team Leader.

DRC fulfills its mandate by providing direct assistance to conflict-affected populations – refugees, internally displaced people (IDPs) and host communities in the conflict areas of the world.

Responsibilities

  • Support the technical assessments and digital data gathering of project locations obtained from shelter team
  • Develop responsibility matrix for shelter activities in coordination with shelter manager
  • Lead/supervise/manage shelter team based on the project work plan and DRC regulation through conducting performance evaluation and leave plan
  • Conduct weekly meeting with shelter team and update shelter manager in a regular basis
  • With shelter team, follow up opportunities to collaborate and coordinate efforts with other organisations to ensure DRC’s activities build upon rather than replicate the work of others
  • Always work towards promotion of DRC principles and humanitarian values
  • Prepare a list of personnel, material and financial resources in coordination with shelter manager according to the set project schedule
  • Ensure compliance with national/international norms and quality standards relating to their activities
  • With shelter manager, contribute to developing budgets programme and monitor expenses and budget forecasts
  • Set objectives with their team for performance purpose, and ensure that their team is abiding by DRC Code of Conduct and the humanitarian principles
  • Ensure that their team is aware of different cross cutting components (gender, accountability, protection)

Requirements

  • University degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
  • Certificate in project management is an asset
  • Four years, minimum, of experience in project implementation on the field, preferably with an INGO or NGO providing humanitarian shelter/infrastructure assistance in practical house construction (construction planning and management of ongoing projects) with proven team supervision experience
  • Ability to coordinate and supervise staff and project activities
  • Skills and experience in project planning, delivery, monitoring, reporting, review, and evaluation
  • Prior experience with operations, logistics and/or small-scale infrastructure projects
  • Professional familiarity with monitoring and evaluation
  • Ability to travel and work for specific periods in other locations within Tripolitania area, also abroad for training/workshop
  • Self-motivated, able to take initiative, resilient and able to supervise day-to-day activities planning with the project team
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic
