Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Protection Project Manager.
DRC provides direct assistance to conflict-affected populations – refugees, and internally displaced people (IDPs).
Responsibilities
- Ensure project activities are implemented in line with DRC’s mandate, policies, procedures and country strategy, as well as with donors’ requirements and international protection guidelines
- Ensure timely and technically sound planning, implementation and follow-up of the activities, including budgets, procurements and MEAL in line with project and budget documents
- Ensure age, gender and diversity approach to protection is consistently applied through community and right base participatory methods
- Work closely with the team on the protection monitoring and develop strong analyses
- Ensure the good visibility of the project (internally and externally) in collaboration with the communication and the MEAL officers
- Coordinate with the head of programmes, the technical advisor and the regional coordinators on the project approaches and especially on resilience and social cohesion
- Contribute to the development of proposals to expand funding for the protection of programmes as per identified needs
- Collaborate with other project managers (Tanzania and Burundi) to ensure efficient internal referrals, information sharing and harmonised/integrated approach where necessary
- Ensure local safety rules and safety SOPs are adhered to by the project team
- Organise weekly meetings with the project team, monthly meetings with the project team and the support department and contribute actively to the programme quarterly meetings addressing transversal programmatic and strategic matters
- Ensure a good coordination with the national authorities at capital and field level in collaboration with the area manager and the field team
- In coordination with the protection technical advisor and the area manager, represent DRC in protection-related working groups and other meetings with national, local and international actors in the assigned geographical area, and engage with relevant coordination mechanisms.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Law, Social Sciences, Political Science or Humanitarian Aid
- Three years, minimum, of proven experience of managing a large project with a substantial financial volume, preferably on protection
- Knowledge of livelihood programming
- Protection, monitoring, psychosocial support and legal aid experience
- Proven experience in early recovery programming and durable solutions
- Knowledge of FCDO funding preferred
- Ability to work with limited supervision
- Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities
