Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is seeking to fill the role of Humanitarian Disarmament and Peacebuilding Coordinator (DHCP).

DRC provides direct assistance to conflict-affected populations, including refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs).

Responsibilities

  • Define the strategy and positions of the humanitarian disarmament and peacebuilding technical department in line with DRC’s overall intervention strategy in Mali
  • Ensure continuous analysis of the consequences and repercussions of IED and SALW incidents
  • Coordinate the identification of needs in humanitarian disarmament and peacebuilding
  • Design, coordinate, formulate and write project proposals according to established strategy
  • Promote the development and inclusion of innovative and relevant approaches for the country
  • Ensure involvement and technical coordination with regional office
  • Use appropriate tools for implementing and monitoring programmes
  • Ensure conflict sensitivity of all projects implemented and provide analysis
  • Technically support the implementation of humanitarian disarmament and peacebuilding and victim assistance projects
  • Support the DHCP programme teams in monitoring the implementation of programmes according to planned results and activities, and financial monitoring of expenses and budgets
  • Coordinate and manage the preparation of project activity reports, ensuring their quality

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or higher in Political Science, Economics, Law, Social Sciences, Project Management, International Development, Peace and Security Studies (Conflict Studies), or a related field
  • Three years, minimum, of experience in a senior technical advisory role
  • Significant work experience in the areas of community security, reduction of armed violence, conflict prevention, social cohesion, dialogue and the re-establishment of bonds of trust among users of the public service and administration/institutions, prevention of violent extremism, support for the role of young people and/or women in peace and security issues
  • Experience in quality assurance, capacity building and training
  • Experience in the independent management of partner and donor relations and representation functions
  • Strong managerial skills
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure
  • Excellent computer skills (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Perfect command of French and professional mastery of English (speaking, reading, writing)
