Location: Hargeisa, Somalia
The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is seeking applications from eligible applicants for the role of Economic and Recovery Assistant.
DRC provides direct assistance to conflict-affected populations, including refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs).
Responsibilities
- Participate in planning, implementation and monitoring of project activities through participative community engagement
- Conduct community mobilisation and timely information sharing on beneficiary selection and registration
- Facilitate the implementation of the livelihood activities in collaboration with the area programme manager and economic and recovery officer
- Facilitate beneficiary capacity-building and training on various economic and recovery activities, including SME, VSLA, BDS, GAP, NRM, CAAPs, contingency plan, nutrition, hygiene practices
- Support beneficiary selection, verification and registration and share information with respective supervisors, ensuring equal participation by all segments of the community prioritising female-headed HHS and marginalised groups
- Conduct beneficiary targeting and registration for cash-based transfers, including CWF and UCT
- Participate in development of assessment questioners and conduct rapid assessment survey
- Working closely with the monitoring and evaluation officer, prepare monthly/weekly plans and report the same
- Participate in the documentation of lessons learnt, best practices and case studies to contribute to sector learning
- Carry out any other job assigned by the supervisor
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture or a related discipline
- Two years of experience in livelihood interventions
- Adequate knowledge of beneficiary mobile money cash transfers
- Good communication skills and ability to conduct training
- Understanding of gender, protection and human rights
- Knowledge of humanitarian responses and standards
- Experience with food security, livelihoods and agricultural recovery, cash programming, DRM/DRR, NRM
- Experience in working with local communities through development of CAAPs, local community resource mobilisation and coordination with local authorities, diaspora and private sector partners
- Good computer skills (Microsoft Office)
- Excellent communication (written and oral), and reporting and presentation skills in English and Somali
- Willingness to travel to all project locations on regular basis
