Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Area Manager.
DRC fulfills its mandate by providing direct assistance to conflict-affected populations including refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs).
Responsibilities
- Recruit and carry out daily management of the Khartoum and South Kordofan-based programme and support teams, ensuring positive and collaborative working relationships in line with DRC’s code of conduct
- Manage the Khartoum and South Kordofan office, ensuring compliant financial operations and budgeting, administration, human resources, logistics, procurement and security in line with DRC and donor regulations
- Provide oversight of all programming in Khartoum and South Kordofan in compliance with core protection principles and best practices, as well as DRC and donor regulations
- Design and support in conducting needs assessments to inform programme design as well as identify risks and vulnerabilities, including those related to gender, age and diversity
- Contribute to the strategic direction of Khartoum and South Kordofan programming through active and ongoing participation
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Law, Social Sciences, International Development, Gender Studies, or Humanitarian Aid
- Eight years, minimum, of experience in humanitarian response and refugee protection, with experience working for an international NGO, UN agency or relevant ministry or local authority
- Five years, minimum, of experience in a senior project management position
- Excellent analytical and writing skills
- Knowledge of Arabic and/or Tigrayan is a plus
- Supply chain, finance and HR system experience
- Ability to work closely with a diverse team of individuals in a highly intense and fluid environment
- Proven experience in providing technical guidance and training including development of training materials
- Excellent written and spoken English
