Development Alternatives Initiatives (DAI) is seeking to fill the role of Chief of Party (COP) for an anticipated five-year USAID-funded Nigeria Integrated Health Programme (IHP).

DAI is a global development company, tackling fundamental social and economic development problems caused by inefficient markets, ineffective governance, and instability.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, management, strategic direction, and vision for Nigeria IHP
  • Oversee critical decisions on activities, partnerships, staffing, finances, and donor relations
  • Identify and effectively manage and mitigate all risks related to the programme
  • Lead the accurate and quality implementation of the programme and its agreed work plans, ensuring the programme is flexible, innovative and adaptive to changes in all operating environments
  • In coordination with the team, develop effective relationships with key stakeholders including government officials across the countries engaged in the programme
  • Serve as primary liaison to USAID, in-country counterparts, and IHP stakeholders
  • Supervise senior managers and technical experts
  • Ensure compliance with USAID regulations and DAI procedures
  • Ensure quality of programme outputs is fully aligned with DAI and USAID requirements through mentoring, training and monitoring of staff and partners
  • Ensure the quality and timely production and submission of deliverables to USAID
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned as business needs evolve

Requirements

  • Postgraduate education (master’s degree or higher) in Public Health, Organisational Development, International Development, Health Systems, or a related field
  • Ten years, minimum, of experience and expertise managing large and complex donor-funded programmes of similar or related nature, size, and complexity
  • Knowledge and understanding of USAID global health programmes in African countries
  • Demonstrated experience working in reproductive, maternal, newborn, and child health programmes
  • Experience in successfully establishing and managing collaborative relationships and partnerships with donors and government counterparts at the senior level
  • Demonstrated leadership in strategic planning and thinking, management, supervision, and budgeting
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, including problem-solving skills, collaboration experience, creativity, and willingness to innovate
  • Fluent oral and strong analytical written English
  • Experience supervising full-time staff, short-term consultants and the work of implementing partners, both directly and through a matrixed management structure
