Church World Service (CWS) is seeking to fill the role of Information Technology (I.T.) Support Specialist.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve and maintain thorough knowledge and adherence to established RSC Africa, CWS/IRP, DOS/PRM and USCIS policies and procedures regarding database management
  • Manage the day-to-day running, maintenance, and administration of I.T. facilities in a timely manner
  • Plan, organise, control, and evaluate the operations of information systems and electronic data processing
  • Maintain the security and integrity of the I.T. equipment and network infrastructure
  • Maintain the security and integrity of the organisation’s computer systems including virus protection, backup procedures and legal implications of computer use
  • Provide first-line, high-quality support and advice to all office staff in their use of office I.T. facilities both in Kigali and in the field
  • Escalate any major and locally unresolvable I.T. issues
  • Manage the maintenance and repair (where possible) of the sub-office I.T. equipment in consultation with the supervisor
  • In coordination with the Nairobi I.T. support and training team, identify staff I.T. training needs and deliver I.T. training to information systems users
  • Complete projects by coordinating resources and timetables with end users or project requestors
  • Make necessary recommendations to ensure that adequate backup power systems are in place for all I.T. systems
  • Ensure that any I.T. equipment used by field team staff is properly checked to make sure it is in good working condition
  • Liaise with the I.T. staff in Nairobi (as necessary) on various I.T. issues including the implementation of new technologies and coordinating office installations
  • Handle multiple project responsibilities simultaneously, prioritise work and resolve technical emergencies as they may occur
  • Perform any other duties that may be assigned

Requirements

  • Experience leading and supporting activities in an I.T. environment
  • Five years of experience in managing and/or supporting computer networks with a preference for Windows-based networks
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in a Windows-based environment
  • Good problem-solving skills and willingness to constantly renew required knowledge
  • Thorough knowledge of TCP/IP architecture and OSI models
  • Strong knowledge of networking (LAN, WLAN and VPN)
  • Strong, up-to-date knowledge of systems security in a large network environment
  • Strong knowledge of domain management and active directory services
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 administration or support
  • Strong knowledge and skills in Windows server 2016
  • Strong knowledge of using and managing I.T. helpdesk systems
  • Knowledge of intrusion prevention and detection systems
  • Knowledge of the data leak, loss and encryption methods (McAfee or any other)
  • Knowledge and working experience with the administration of database systems, especially MS SQL server
