Crisis Action is seeking to fill the position of Campaigns and Research Assistant.

Crisis Action is a global non-governmental organisation (NGO) that works with individuals and organisations from civil society to protect civilians from armed conflict.

Responsibilities

  • Support global advocacy and campaign work, including planning, preparing, and delivering activities relating to media, advocacy and online mobilisation
  • Support the development of campaign products, including social media toolkits, press releases and joint letters
  • Organising and taking minutes of campaign calls and meetings with the team, partners, allies, experts, and government officials
  • Monitor UK and international media and social media to keep abreast of political and conflict-specific developments, track media pickup of campaign products, and collate regular media updates for the team and partners
  • Monitor developments in the UK parliament to track actions from key political targets, scope for new potential political allies, and spot opportunities for influencing the issues that the organisation campaign on
  • Undertake research on issues and contacts relevant to campaign work, including attending relevant external events and drafting briefings and/or intel updates for the team
  • Collate input from team or partners on evaluations/post-action debriefs and surveys
  • Scope current crises and draft internal ‘Emergency Watch’ reports on emerging crises
  • Provide significant administrative support to the Crisis Action UK office, including:
  • Maintain the central partner and contact database.
  • Update the evidence of change journal to track and record policy change and impact.

Requirements 

  • Excellent organisational, administrative and computer/technology skills and Microsoft Office proficiency
  • Excellent communication skills, and excellent oral and written English (additional languages, including particularly Arabic and French are a significant bonus)
  • Self-starter, takes the initiative, able to multi-task and flourish in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent research skills and ability to distil and summarise complex topics into easy-to understand formats for a variety of audiences
  • Interest in conflict and human rights issues and/or campaigning and advocacy
  • Interest in UK politics (desirable)
  • Interest in working with civil society organisations and/or government institutions
